Garmin Quest GPS

I would buy it... It has heaps of features over the touchscreen ones..

I'd grab it. I have one and it's a great little unit. It talks you through the cities, has off-road mode and can be slipped in your pocket so that you can find your way back to the car. It also takes an external aerial and connects to a PC by USB. I paid $847 for mine.

It could be the old model with the 115mb memory, mind you there's nil wrong with it , same as mine, but if you want to compare the price check this link.

Back again, I just realised the price $500 , if it is used then you would be much better buying a new one with the bigger memory , extra $350 only and you do get the CD also

I was recently in the market for a GPS and the Garmin Quest was one I looked at. It is a very good unit. It appears a very good price.

I decided to get a PDA GPS but that was my personal choice.

they were over a grand when they first came out

Quest also has UTM for comparing against paper map....other navigators dont...making it great for bush walking too

Well the price is correct and at first the infomation I got was it is the new model with 243 meg mem and navigator 7 with street maps. I had a couple of others intereted (from this site) so I was VERY keen to make sure all was correct. I was also told they could get more in as required (great).

The end result as I was paying I was reading the box and it was not the new one it was the 115 meg memory with nav 6 (BUGGER). So i brought this to the salesmans notice an with some discussion with the boss the saleman simply gave me the wrong info and apologised for stuffing me around.

So it is the old version and they only have two left at that price and they are trying to see if they can get the upgraded version Nav 7 for free. However not sure if this will have an effect on the 115 memory.

My understanding is the old and new model work the same with the newer one having a larger memory.

I dare say even this is still a fair buy.

Ended up picking up the Quest ........ I figured for $498 with Nav 7 CD for free was a good buy. So the fun is now learn how to use it :) :). In the end I figured I'm not looking at the screen while driving and I was mainly after it to plot locations for photo's and interesting places and trip info ........ I' sure it will do the trick.

Now just gotta go read that stuff Doug T sent me again (if i can find it) and put to practice. :) :)
