Hello all

TLCV has invited all other TLC's to particpate at a National Conference in the Flinders Ranges during September. As trip convener for TLCV I am researching 1/2 and full day trips around the Wilpena Pound area that can be setup for the TLC members coming along. Do any forumites have favourite short trips around that area that they are willing to share, or a list of those "must see" sights that we might be able to incoroporate into trips?

Thanks in anticipation

Note - this is a TLC members only event and registration must be made on the form available from your state TLC President.

Hiya Gadgets,

Nice to see TLCV supporting SA ... what happened to TLCSA?

Alpana Station is interesting, as also Warren Gorge/Mount Arden - I know that the Mt Barker 4WD club use it for training. Mt Arden is great at sunset and has some nice yakkas on it.

Cheers
Andrew.

thanks Andrew - TLCSA is definitely involved and I will be following up with their own trip convener but I thought to cast a broader net. TLCV are organising the event and have picked Flinders Ranges as a central spot.

Cheers

Hi Gadgets

Skytrek is definitely worthwhile. Takes about 1/2 to 2/3 of a day.

If your a fit mob a foot trek to St Mary's Peak is well worth the walk.I think it would have been about 1972 when me and the Mrs did it ...[I meant the walk silly]

Gadgets,
IMO, Argadells is the best in the area. Located 27k N of Quorn on the Arden Vale Rd.

Take in the Mt Arden drive, A ridgetop drive on the Heysen trail, a drive down "Oh bleep e" hill and drive to a couple of the lookouts that look over Buckaringa Gorge. When we did club trips there, there was enough to keep you occupied for 3 days, but a single days of highlights would be very good. I'm no longer a member of TLCCSA, but the latest president, Ralph has good experience in the area.

I also like the Glass Gorge Rd and the PARs that take you out Nuccaleena Mine, Puttapa Gap etc, north of Blinman and of course they are free.

Cheers
Phil

Hi Garry,
I know a couple of short trips you might be interested in, you should have asked at the meet on Sunday.

Hi Gadgets,
I written up, photographed and rated several trips in the area. TLCV President Garry has the CD with the info.
I thought skytrek was over rated. If you do sky trek book direct to get club discounts.
