The Queensland Parliment has a formal process for e-Petitions from citizens to the parliment. The following is a link to a petition recently started re the announced closure of
Hook Point to 4WD vehicles.
Only Qld residents can '
sign' the petition.

Follow the simple instructions once you get to the link.

Hi Norm,
I have read the petition and I think that isn't exactly what I would want it to say.
I feel that the 'Recognise the iconic nature of Fraser Island as a 4Wd destination FOR TOURISTS etc', plays into the hands of the element who want to ban private 4WD access to the island and only have tour operators conducting organised tours for Tourists.
Maybe I am a bit picky but petitions are sometimes read literally and if they get their hands on it they can advise Government that the 4WD community of Queensland want Fraser Island restricted to Tourists, and of course Tourists don't have vehicles so have to be transported.
I feel that we should be telling the Government and the NPWS and any other organisation that we want Fraser Island "ALWAYS OPEN FOR ONE AND ALL"

Hi Kevin,
I think you are reading a little narrowly since it also mentions recreational fishing, boating and camping and retaining vehicular access. The sponsoring politician is David Gibson MP. If you don't like the wording then perhaps you should contact him and find out exactly how he meant it to read and what he plans to do with it.
I put my name on it this evening since it would have to be better than doing nothing.
I actually saw it mentioned first on the Ausfish site and was going to post it here when I saw that Norm already had.
Tim.
