Thanks Keith.

Have done it.

Bloody Government 20 years ago Hook Point was a large spans of sand that was a pleasure to drive on. See what they have done.........

Hi Norm,

I have read the petition and I think that isn't exactly what I would want it to say.

I feel that the 'Recognise the iconic nature of Fraser Island as a 4Wd destination FOR TOURISTS etc', plays into the hands of the element who want to ban private 4WD access to the island and only have tour operators conducting organised tours for Tourists.

Maybe I am a bit picky but petitions are sometimes read literally and if they get their hands on it they can advise Government that the 4WD community of Queensland want Fraser Island restricted to Tourists, and of course Tourists don't have vehicles so have to be transported.

I feel that we should be telling the Government and the NPWS and any other organisation that we want Fraser Island "ALWAYS OPEN FOR ONE AND ALL"

Hi Kevin,

I think you are reading a little narrowly since it also mentions recreational fishing, boating and camping and retaining vehicular access. The sponsoring politician is David Gibson MP. If you don't like the wording then perhaps you should contact him and find out exactly how he meant it to read and what he plans to do with it.

I put my name on it this evening since it would have to be better than doing nothing.

I actually saw it mentioned first on the Ausfish site and was going to post it here when I saw that Norm already had.

Tim.

There is probably a reason why Qld Parliament can't make this petition available to everyone; it's not only Queenslanders that are affected.

But it belongs to queenslanders so it's their choice to do with what they like, right.
Just like you wouldn't expect a foreign country telling us what to do with Australian soil. (Well, maybe if their part of the "coalition of the willie")

Done, thanks Norm

Here is a list of Qld Parliamentary ministers so that interested people outside of Qld can respond re the closure. Doesn't have to be a long reply, just something short and sweet: - 'I oppose the closure of Hook Point, Fraser Island'. Copy and paste into browser if the hyperlink fails.

Hi,
I don't suppose you would know where there is a list of opposition members. Sometimes it's good to tell them so that they can argue our case and who knows maybe the government will change before Hook Point is closed and the new team will need some guidance.
