G'day
I installed a 190 litre replacement for my 50 litre 2nd tank in my 80 series cruiser exactly 4 years ago.
It has been faultless over 150,000 km.
I have done a lot of the
treks on this site including
Cape York,
Simpson Desert, most Beadell Hways, Victorian High Country and a couple of Aussie circumnavigations on dirt where ever possible.
It has made long distances between (cheaper) fuel a breeze.
I count it as my equal favourite accessory along with my front lokka also bought from 4wdsystems.

I bought one of their tanks for my Hilux. It developed a slight crack wher they had welded a bracket on, no more than a weep really, this happned on the Gibb. We completed our trip and the tank was taken out by the local guy, sent to
Adelaide, repaired sent back and refitted without a problem. Zero cost to me as still under warranty. I spoke to a mechanic in
Derby about repairing it but would have cost me dollars and days, and the weep was too small to lose too much time of our holiday. He did mention that he has seen every brand of after market tank crack over the years. The 4wd systems one I bought was a few humbred dollars cheaper at the time.

Interesting timing.
I caught up with Tom Hewittson from 4WD Systems yesterday and talked about the replacement auxiliary tank (170l) and walked through the way it works (not really rocket science I will admit), and the way it is mounted.
Certainly the price is much better than the competitors, and to all intents and purposes seems similarly constructed. Seems like a good guy who stands behind his products.
I know Des Lexic has taken delivery of one for his truck, although as at the weekend, he hadn't installed it.
Cheers
Andrew.

i went and had a look at their tank on the patrol they have as their display and daily driver, i slid right under and was looking for any repaired bits. what i found was a dented and bashed tank with rather large dings on the folder edges but no patches or re-welding, a highly used and bashed tank. very impressed. then went to order one and was asked to pay in full when ordering, and it would take about two weeks. i don't think so i said but will pay a deposit, they wouldn't come to the party so i walked out. i don't mind playing but not in full, because then it becomes a gets here when it gets here type thing. i told the guy last time i ordered a front diff lock for the pathy it was going to be 2/3 weeks but turned out 8 months, then a refund and no diff.

Andrew, that may have been me (not Des Lexic) that you were thinking of......unless he has one to be fitted too of course?...
I have an 80 litre replacement sub tank from 4WD systems, that I'm hoping to fit tomorrow using a mate's pit if it's a bit cooler....
Cheers and good to meet you last weekend
