Hi everyone, i'm in the process of making a new kitchen for my camper out of plywood, liquid nails and screws.
My problem is i've put a door on and the wood is a bit bent and makes the top stick out and not close properly. I have tried clamping two pieces of timber either side for a few days to try to make it flatten out but hasnt worked.
I am no carpenter as you could tell if you saw the job ive done (gaps here and there lol) but it will do the job. Give me a welder and steel any day.
Any help would be aprieciated
Cheers Luke

More info!
What is the twisted door made from other, than just wood.
Also are you sure the wood is "bent", or is it caused by the hinges not being aligned?

Thanks for the reply
It is just a peice of 9mm plywood 400 by 330mm, the hinges are piano hinge. If you could see it you would be able to see it is bent. I looked down the edge and can see it is bent/twisted

Luke,
Is it the piece that you cut out of the opening?
Either way way I think you are in trouble, & will need to make another door.
But make sure that you varnidsh/paint BOTH sides, as, contrary to popular belief, plywood will distort

One way to bend / straighten ply is to give it a good wetting and bend 1.5 / 2x in the direction of the required bend , clamp until fully dry ,, generaly pops back to the required bend ,ergo the 1.5 -2x overbend.

Agree with that one.
To bend ply, wet it or steam it.
Make sure the glue is an external glue first if you are going to wet it.

Use a butterfly latch or similar at the point where the door sits out. So ... you shut the door and latch it at that point thereby holding the door in. More importantly, it looks like you meant it to be that way...

Thanks for the reply Royce,
I got them a bit straighter by using the water treatment as said above but not completely. If they give me the sh*ts by popping open all the time then I might think about your idea.

luke just made a door for the sink instead of a curtain had the same problem 9 mm ply with a bow in it. i but a magnetic catch on the ends and in the middle 6 kg rating not 4kg and has pulled the bow out of the timber. if that dont work before you paint it wet it down and lie it in the sun bow up with a wieght on it eg brick that should do the trick, we use to do that with ply doors years ago dags

G,day dags, thanks for the tip on using the 6 kg magnet as I had already bought some 4kg ones.
I have pulled out the bow a bit using the water treatment that you, Alloy and Oldplodder sugested. If the 4kg magnets dont hold I will try the 6kg
Cheers
