Touch up paint supplied by manufacturers
Thought I would try to get rid of a few stone chips
What I would give to have the stone chips back and not the different coloured paint marks on the car
Having it cut back and buffed next week - if that does not work - New paint job for one door.
The joys of the inexperienced handyman

I can relate to that...boy can I ever. Decided to do a similar job many years ago. No knowledge or experience but I was willing to give it a go. Can't be that hard, right ? Wrong ! I will never apply paint to a vehicle again.

No - What I am is told that when you buy the car new the touch up paint is not metallic even if the car is - (Toyota)
I used the touch up paint they supplied and it turned out to be a different colour and texture - caused by some of the following I now believe
Age of paint on car and amount of fading
Touch up paint is meant to be dabbed on with cotton bud apparently - Pity if they put that or other instructions on the can.
The touch up paint has probably changed colour since supplied also even though I stirred it for 5 mins
Touch up paint is not designed for brush strokes.
Either way it looks ^%%#% and i will never ever even think about applying paint to a reasonable car again.

Gday wdr i have done something f----d up as
well.I just bought a new 06 rv cruiser ute.Had it for one week spilled chemicals in my tray no drama, i just washed it out but my conscience got the better of me .So i applied a aluminium cleaner to my tray and washed it of now all the gold parts on my tray are the same colour as the aluminium and it now looks like a 10 year old tray there goes 1800 bucks on a heavy duty aluminium tray.So mate your not the only one who has bad luck but on my part im just a d---h--d and i should have read the instructions and not sprayed it on like it was melting my tray away.HA

Just been to the friendly local detailers quote $195.
Went to the even friendlier crash repairer and he fixed it for free (thinners)
I still have chips but no more strange paint patches. Phew
I am told paint ages quickly both in the can supplied and fading on the car. Plus it is not metallic in touch up tin.
Painting any more than a cotton bud head dab onto small chip to stop rust is not an option. (from the crash repairer and detailer) - Unless of course it does not matter (hidden from view)
