I bought an NM Pajero in December and need some advice about the exhaust. The silencer box seems to hang down a long way, it appears to be securely fitted so its not hanging loose. At the front of the silencer there is a flimsy little 'bash plate' which means that it would hit any rocks at 45 degrees rather than with a flat surface. I have tried to spot other NM Pajeros in car parks but they seem to be avoiding me so I can't have a look under them.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or has a previous owner perhaps had to replace the exhaust with whatever was available at the time/place? I hope that is the case becasue the fix will be easy - I'll just fit the proper type (when I have saved enough).
I don't often pass near Mitsubishi dealers but will do so if no-one has the answer - I thought I would try to find out without moving first!
Thanks

You might find the Vic Pajero
forum able to quickly answer.

Try the above
forum.
It has appeared on the
forum, yes, the silencer does hang down a little low.

I had an NM. The small guard on the muffler copped a few hits prior to a 2" lift but it wasn't too bad after that.

We took our NM across the top and back in 2005 including the
Gibb River Road and a couple of the side trips to the likes of Old Mornington. We also were concerned about the muffler height before we left but had absolutely no problems. Thought we had touched a bit hard in a couple of the river crossings
Roper Bar to Hells
Gate but could find no evidence of serious damage.
The people at
El Questro were amazed that we were able to do some of the tracks which they advise are for Toyota and Nissan type vehicles.
The one problem we had was the fuel range. It was petrol and the tank size does not cater for the big distances in that part of the world.
Was still sorry to see it go because we changed our tow.
