Looking at one of these little trucks is there any thing that can be done to get some extra power out of them?
Also is there any inherent problems with them? Looking to use it for touring in.
Thanks
Davo

I previously owned a Mazda bravo (same car - different badge)
The 2.5TD isn't going to win any races, though that is something i could live with, It never had issues pulling my mates boat around (1.6T). I had issues with the fuel pump in
mine at around 90,000k just after a trip to the cape. (I suspect bad fuel had something to do with it)
As for touring, you might find the front
suspension is too soft, and the back too stiff (thats in stock form) TJM & ARB both have
suspension kits for them that will make long distance travel a little more pleasant.
Around town I Highway I averaged about 9-10L/100k
With the boat on - around 16L/100K
There was a write-up of one set up for touring in a recent 4x4 mag, though I can't seem to find it at the moment.
Cheers,
-T

Have got a 2001 2.5TD dual cab and very happy with the vehicle overall.
Have clocked up 200,000 after purchase second hand with 40,000k. Recently had clutch changed (worn out) and just last week the wife may have cooked the motor following depletion of coolant. Will find out in couple of days if this is case or glow plugs damaged.
Someone suggested keeping car and trading in wife however I would lose over half of my super so may consider trading in the car and keeping the wife.
Have also replaced original shockers at about 160,000 and found easier to keep wheels aligned.
Horses for courses.

I also owned a Mazda Bravo (freestyle)
I removed the exhaust and had a larger one fitted, this also left the Cat off, great increase especially low down, also had a
snorkel fitted to let it breath easier. Done all the GRR etc with approx 1.4T behind it and only problem I ever found was the same problem all small capacity T/D have in that it lacked power off the bottem end, if you are in sand and want to climb a dune or similar, either get a run up or be prepared to slip the clutch.
