The Landy
I had no idea there was such a variance in prices for CTPs. Got a renewal from Alliance $745, checked NRMA $400.
Told Alliance that they were almost twice as much and they didn't seem to give a toss........

Hi Landy,
The best price i could get was with aami at about $274 followed by QBE at $276.
It certainly pays to
shop around.
Cheers
Chris.

Even with using that site the cheapest price is still about $100 dearer than what the MAA estimates it at. I just did the comparison and AAMI won the cheapest estimate but ended up $100 dearer when an proper quote was then gained from the online quote link.
Very cheeky I think.

Makes you wonder just what gives with CTP's, my 2003 Land cruiser with Allianz was $239.00 last year, good price but I do live away from a city, but check this out, my Honda motorbike 750cc, CTP last year with NRMA $247.50, just got renewal with NRMA this year gone to $489.00, got to be a joke, checked in net and with GIO $232.74, just may call into NRMA and see what gives. It's standard practice with insurance companies. First year is cheap and then they hike it up every 12 months.
So it's best to change every year.

Posters are quoting prices without stating age or location. This makes some difference. With GIO age does not matter but a post code location of 2259 attracts a premium of $263.79 for my Disco where as if I lived in
Sydney it would be $318.90.
Green Slips web site www.greenslips.com.au/ has some interesting info for CTP insurance comparison in each state. They quote premiums on a Crumpledoor in each capital city.

It's a weird thing; it's not like comprehensive insurance that varies depending on accessories/off-road cover/address etc and which company offers what. CTP is an across the board basic thing so why should the prices vary so much? I have also shopped around and found huge variances in prices. It's like one store charging you twice as much for milk as the store next door.

Hi all
further to the green slip discussion - just renewed nrma green slip for my isuzu truck "mcara" - rta and insurance talk for motor caravan - the renewal notice arrived with a $511+ number on it - online quote from nrma via link with MAA and the price reduces dramatically - appears that renewal notice number assumes that the vehicle is uninsured - further can't alter renewal price online - have take it to the nrma agent with insurance papers - not necessarily nrma - with level 1 ncb and the price changes to $248+. Interestingly the insurance papers were not looked at - just a question - is it insured? A: yes. Seemed so smooth and practised - seemed like a verion of sincerity - sure u have all heard how important sincerity is in business - when you can fake it you have it made.
NRMA previously had a paragraph on renewal notice that went something like - the premium may be reduced if evidence of level 1 ncb is produced. Nothing on the most recent renewal notice. Wonder how many confused old things - myself included - just toddled off and renewed at the original face price of $511.
Would it be going too far suggesting it has something to do with competition nrma faces and low NRMA share price - am I alone or has anyone else noticed more than slight difference with nrma insurance since demutualisation - now separate but including a dramatically increase in road service cost.
Didn't check for other quotes as have found previously that my combination of postcode & vehicle always got a cheaper quote (with level 1 ncb) from nrma - perhaps I should have looked further.
