I have a 300w sine wave inverter to mount in an 80 series STD wagon. Only using it to run laptop on our trips.
Given that the output is 230 volts ac, and that a
water crossing 'may' go wrong and flood the car to
seat base level, and that the inverter needs a reasonable air flow to stay cool, where is the best spot to mount the inverter? I really don't want it bouncing around on the floor and mounting it on the cargo barrier would then need an extension lead. Placing it on the 3/4 passenger bench would expose the passenger to risk of elecution should the 3 pin plug come loose on corrugations. I didn't think of mounting spots before I purchased it. Note that an 80 STD does not have a centre console.
Any suggestions?
Tony

Tony,
The cargo barrier is the place that I have my inverter. Up high out of the way and it has plenty of air flow around it. The extension lead that I have is only 1.5 m and is really not a problem.

I have to agree with Wayne.
An added benifit of this is it's up high & away from possible
water ingress. Thats very important if you have it on while travelling, the results can be "shocking". Pun intended.

I had a battery fitted on top of wheel arch after I had taken out the rear
seat , and the thingo that
seat swung off.
A bracket made up fitted over bolt holes and was very secure and out of the way.
