Hi All
Seems my original post last week on the splitting of wheel arch on my 2005 Hilux 4x4 was removed from this site. I can only wonder why???

Anyway went to Toyota and of course they denied any obligation re warranty as I "had modified" my hilux in fitting a battery where one was not designed to be fitted. I am having modifications done on Monday and I will keep you all posted. A word of warning to anyone fitting a 2nd battery their Hilux, make sure that you have a specially designed tray fitted that provides total support and one that spreads the weight over as much surface of the wheel arch as possible. Do noy just bolt a tray directly onto the arch using 3 holes etc. Tray must be substantial. Once my modifications have been finished I will post pics . See pic below of the split in wheel arch

Cheers Jack

I think it is very concerning that your post was removed. This sought of thing IMHO effects the credebility of this forum. I have the same vehicle however haven't fitted the 2nd battery yet. Please keep me posted.

One question, your saying to fit a substantial tray and mount however this has to be affixed to the vehicle anyhow so what do you recommend..?

I dunno if it was removed because of repost?, I searched but couldn`t find any old post.
But either way I think a forum upgrade would be good. So that replied to threads go back to top of forum.

I am also interested in this post as buying a new hilux I intend to put dual batteries in. Is there a bracket that is available that is better than others?

Cheers

"replied to threads go back to top of forum"

They do, as long as you have "Sort by Response Time" selected on the Index page.

Hi guys

My new battery tray will be specifically manufactured by a mob here in Gosford. The quote for fabrication and fitting is around $200.

I will post some pics on here once completed. I will also provide name of supplier as well.

Cheers
