NOT ANOTHER TYRE ONE !!!! Advice from those running these tyres would be very much appreciated. I am currently in the position to get new tyres on my 100 series Cruiser. Have Cooper ATR LT285/75R16, that have done about 70,000km. My predicament is that they are very chipped and have just demolished my second by the casing cracking. I know that some will say that 70k is good mileage as i do a lot of gravel road driving , but majority is on the black stuff! Vehicle is used for work in usually semi-remote areas, so i need reliable tyres. Am interested to know of those running the Silent Armour and the mileage (read kilometers), that they are returning and the conditions used in. How do they handle gravel roads (re; chipping), and how they handle in the wet (if it ever rains again!!!). It must be noted that if my current tyres weren't as badly chipped and not cracking in the cases, the tread depth would give an estimated another 30-40,000km. I am also looking to run slightly narrower tyres this time (265/75R16). Looking forward to your replies. Regards Keeping it Real!!

There are also some posts in the recent past on Silent Armour. My 265/75R16 are just over a year old, done 17,000k, have done two Simpson desert trips and some 4wding around Tassie. They haven't chipped at all on the outback dirt roads. They've hardly seen the wet. I staked one on the Madigan line, and it was replaced under Beaurepaires $16 warranty. They balanced up with very little weights. They are smooth and relatively quiet on the bitumen.

After 17k, the tread depth has gone from 13mm to 11-11.5mm. I don't rotate tyres. They are a good tyre if you want an AT tyre.

Had mine for about 5000k and the biggest thing I've noticed from past tyres is with braking performance. It is very good. Also very secure in the wet.

The tryes give you confidence, they look and feel right. Strong AT tyre that looks like it will endure a tough test. Very square cut which I like.

Like Phil very little weights to balance and also went the $16 guarantee - made sense to me.
Cheers
John

Keepingitreal.
I have done about 15k on the silent armours, we did a long trip in the fire damaged areas of the Vic high country over the last long weekend driving over burnt sticks on some very steep tracks, the tires were excellent with no sign of damage. Eric.

When I bought mine before Xmas (haven't actually fitted 'em to the vehicle yet),
they were about $50.00 per tyre cheaper at K-Mart than I was quoted at Beau's...
(not to mention the 30cpl fuel voucher deal they had going at the time:-))

Needless to say, K-Mart got the money;-))
