The 4th Peterborough Art Prize Exhibition is on from 30th March to 9th April and will be open over the Easter weekend as well. We are exhibiting 440 works of art including paintings in all mediums, and photography. The exhibition is held in the Heritage Listed Town Hall in Main Street.

Peterborough is also hosting an Art and Cultural Festival over the same period including Open Gardens, Yarn Telling, Damper and Billy Tea night, Historical Display, Steamtown, Quilting Display, a Concert, and Craft Markets on Easter Saturday and Sunday.

So drop in on your way past to and from the Flinders if you are going this way.

I won't be too far away from the Town Hall if you have time for a chat and a cuppa. Just ask at the desk for me.

Cheers

I'll get out the OxiEz and see if I can find my way there.

Put on the saddlebags and head up there on the 30th.

Cheers,
Andrew who ought to do the railway towns tour - Riverton, Tarcoola, Peterbura, Broken Hill?

No worries Andrew

Just drive up past Elizabeth on Main North Road and keep on heading north. Take the bypass road past Gawler and then left to Tarlee. After Tarlee veer right at Y section. Turn off Barrier Hwy to left 1km past Terowie.

Lots of photographic opportunities here.

Too easy.

LOL

Pity we didn't know about the Art thingo & meeting Willem earlier. We have just put the caravan out to agistment again after visiting the small boats festival at Goolwa, could have made a (sort of) round trip.
Now you mention it Willem I do recall from previous years, think you said wife was one of the "exhibitionists". I would have liked to see that. Maybe next year. Chers.

Yes SWMBO is an artist and exhibits. She also runs the whole show from A-Z.
I have entered some photographs as well. Anyone can enter their artistic works.

Are the awards as controversial as the archi bald prizes ? Now that would add a little spice to the town.

There is enough gossip and innuendo in a small country town as it is. If you have ever lived in a small country town you would know this.

Prizes are straightforward. Judges have to come from out of town.

Its just a Happy, Fun thing to do without at strings attached.

Willem, yes I've lived and worked in country towns...too many of them...and am well aware of their paranoia and small minded tendencies. Frankly I'm not keen on everyone knowing what I had for breakfast etc.

A happy fun thing to do eh ? Definately not the archi bald thing. No storeroom prize I guess. No lifesized paintings of you ? No favourites that never win. Now where's the fun in that? These events usually have more politics than EO ! :))

Still, I imagine that it brings a bit of tourist business into the town, and establishes the place as a hive of artistic sctivity...at least until the weather goes arctic again.

Your sense of humour is not understood. Your negativity is noted.

Frankly Footy, you make little sense and rattle on about nothing.

Good. I am pleased that you have got my message.

I suppose I could have sent you a private email but seeing as you continually need to post drivel along feined humour lines, I felt that I needed to air it here on the forum. For some reason or other, you have to find, or, look for unrelated issues in whatever I, or for that matter, someone else, may post here. Maybe thats your way of communicating. It doesnt wash with me though..

Willem, when I post something that goes without saying, you don't seem to understand it. So let me make it clear for you without any humour at all. I am heartily sick of people who think that they are an expert on what I post and why. To have such delusions appears to be a common factor amongst some here, however I would not have counted you amongst them until recently.
It appears that I was not only misunderstood, but also naieve. Basically I can do without the effort of having to explain and apologise time and time again.
I am resolved to note your sensitivities and to avoid them by not appearing on this medium again.
Good luck

Oh C'mon!

Dummy Spit time is it, eh?

No one asked you to apologise for anything. If you have an inferiority complex then thats too bad.

I post something innocuously about a country Art Show and you have to come up with some nonsense about the Archibald Prize and hidden agendas.

Life isn't so complicated as you may wish it to be.

Get heartily sick if you wish. Thats is you prerogative.

Good day to you now.

Just a minute ol fella, it wasn't me that got into the grumpy pills first :)
I neither have an inferiority nor a superiority complex, nor am I a meglomaniac.
I wasn't knocking either the art, the show nor your town.
And I never comment on things unless I feel qualified to do so.
Facts
I studied art for three yeatrs at college.
I got dragged around damm near every gallery in NSW when younger
I've seen more Archibalds than I care to admit to
I nearly bought a house in Peterborough (yes, I could have been your neighbours landlord at one time:)

I enjoy local gatherings when I come across them, and feel they deserve all the publicity that they can get...Had you asked instead of assuming, I would have told you.
So I would hardly qualify as being negative. But once again I've had to explain things that should have remained my personal business.
No matter, I obviously came across that way. Obtuse humour isn't a strong point in this forum is it ?
Yes, it's my perogative if I feel that I have to take my bat and ball and go home, as so many others have done. Not out of one topic perhaps, but with a review of many posts and responses.

It's not my seriousness thats at issue here. I wasn't serious at all until you thought that I was.

I too live in a small town and to the best of my knowledge do not suffer from paranoia nor do I have small minded tendencies............

Sad Footy, I had you pegged as a tad more intelligent than to make comments like that........unless, of course, the tongue was firmly in the cheek........and it is hard to tell on a forum like this.

Like everything else, and no matter where you live, you get out what you put in......

I'm not suggesting that all country towns are crook. TV and 4wd tourists have done a lot for many previously closed country towns, as has the closing of many meatworks etc etc. Its interesting how visitors can be treated very differently in towns not far apart.

Who cares about how many Archibald prizes you've been to. Who cares if you have a degree in Art. Who cares if you nearly bought a house in Timbuktu?

Please take your High Horse with you when you leave.
