Recently upgraded the MQ for a GQ and found airbag suspension under the back end. Having no owner's manual and couldn't find any info in the gregory's workshop manual - can anyone here give me any info especially p.s.i. into this set up?

even if you had Gregory's or Owner's Manual it wouldna mention airbag suspension.

Can you tell the brand? eg. Polyairs or whatever.

Anyways, they are to maintain the vehicle level, so the first point is, is the vehicle level?

and

Site Link for Polyairs

Cheers

Red bags = polyairs ,min 5psi at all times ,increase upto 30 psi max , inflate BEFORE hitching up load then lower pressure until vehicle level ,,,,,, Blue bags = Firestone ,bit more heavy duty ,10psi min upto max of 35 psi ,same deal as poly air re: allways have min psi to stop pinching bag and excessive rubbing.

Thanks guys being a truckie and well aware of air bag suspension - the colour of the airbags are orange but i'd guess they were red at one stage.
Have 2 air lines set up one each side of the hitch (obviously for l/r) Then there is the handbrake style lever in the cab under the dash with instructions to pull to release stabilizer - does that mean that it dumps the air and u have to reinflate them again after?

Growler

The stabilizer release has nothing to do with the air bags. GQs have a stabilizer bar that can be released if needed depending on the terrain when 4WDing. Read your owners manual and all will be revealed.

Hi mate having had a GQ....the stabilizer release does just that....it releases the rear stabilizer bar. Use it only in slow speed low range off road conditions, As it does affect the cars stability at road speeds. It lets the rear axle move with out stressing the stabilizer bar and in my opinion makes the car more comfortable over rough terrain. Some people have mentioned they have had trouble getting theirs to go back in after letting it out, but I can't comment on that as mine always went straight back in when the lever was put back in......but since it is a simple cable system which operates it it would just be a case off making sure the linkages, cable and springs are working right.

Cheers Stefan

I was told it was the ST and TI models that got the bar release.

Mine broke and Nissan wanted over $500 to buy a new ball joint so I ran around with the stabiliser bar disconnected for about 2 years. With the Polyairs I hardly noticed the difference. I ran the Polyairs at about 7psi 24/7.

My Brother's 89 GQ base model has the stabiliser release. My series II 1991 mid model range doesn't have it. Maybe it was only on series I or earlier years? Or maybe it was an option?

I think they only came out in the 88 to 90 models. Also they won't work well if 4by lifted more than 2inches. there is a light that comes on when engaged and turns off when disengaged, I know a few guy that disconnected theirs when cars lifted over 4 inches.
