Hi All,
My brother has just purchased a Jayco Eagle Outback, We are thinking of doing the same and leaving the Off Off Road Camper at home now and again, (geeeze I must be getting old) LOL. Anyway my question is, these campers come with boat racks on top, I believe they can carry up to around 100kg on the racks, but have a reduced rate if lifting the top up. Having said that I believe that a light Tinnie should be OK as I have seen them with roof mounted Aircons fitted. My Tinnie by the way is around 40kg.
Cheers

Hi Blaze.
We have just purchase a Jayco eagle outback (Still waiting for it to be delivered)
We were told that they can carry a lite weight tinnie, but never try and raise the roof with the tinnie on top as it will put excess stress on the roof supports.
I'm sure they are covering there back sides and don't want warranty clams for collapsed roofs.
I also plan to put a tinnie on top of ours. I will unload it before raising the roof. Don't want any surprises during the night.
Cheers
Rob

Ah, so the research on the motorhome was a no, mate? You could tow a bigger boat with them though. Thought you could make your own 4by one.... Jayco {:-!>

Hi John,
Yep the Motorhome went by off the shopping list. Guess we like the bush and being outside to much. We can have some comfort with this on most trips and if its real offroad we still have the other Campers that we hire, so hope we have done the right thing :-)

Blaze, i used to own an Jayco Eagle and had the same problem,i had a roof rack that i made, with the weight of the roof rack and accessories it all came up to about 140kg. Then i went to the manufacture in Dandenong (Vic) and he said to either get 4 lengths of 2 by 1 pieces of wood or what i used was 4 pieces of 25mm x 25mm box tube steel. Wind the roof all the way to the top, put the steel or wood in each corner of the roof, then take the pressure off the roof. Never had a problem and used that for years, until i sold it. They say no more then 100kgs, but he said the cable can hold up to 150kgs. Speak to your local manufacturer, piece of mind.
Hopes this helps,
Lance
