Hi all,

I was driving the other day, sitting on about 60k when I heard a crackling sound coming from near the auto shifter, at the same time, all the warning lights started flashing on the dash. I have since checked the fuses that I thought applicable, and cleaned the battery terminal. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

thanks, Anne.

Anne,

Check the tightness of the earth wire from the battery where it is bolted onto the engine. There may be more than one earth wire. The crackling noise is probably sparking at an earth.

Check the main earth leads. the alternator is off line if all the lights are flashing, the noise could have been the system trying to earth through the selector linkage
