Hi
Returning from our last trip our 93 V6 4Runner intermittently got difficult to start. The problem only surfaces very infrequently like once on the Tanami and about 6 times at
home in the last 6 months. When it faults, it fires after the normal cranking but will not proceed to running. After several attempts, (all so far) it fires up and misses a bit then runs normally until next time it faults. I could take it to my mechanic but this will probably mean a very expensive trial and error process. I don't mind replacing the part what ever it is but trial and error can be frustrating.
Has anyone out there experienced similar problems? I would appreciate any help you can offer.
Regards
Peter

Check your battery terminals for corrosion. Or the battery might be on its' last legs.
All power giong to the starter motor, ECU not getting enough voltage to open fuel circuits?

Hi Stu050
Checked terminals and they are ok. Thanks for your input. I might start with getting the ECU checked. The first time the car faulted was after the roughest ever trip from
Halls Creek to Renehans
Bore. Something might have broken or shook loose.
Cheers

Sometimes, there can be a pressure problem in the fuel tank.
Have you tried releasing your filler cap ?
Cheers

G'day Bucky
Do you think that pressure could still be a problem on a cool morning? I will try releasing the cap tomorrow morning to see. When it faults it is mostly first start in the morning but not every time. It started ok this morning but not yesterday. The only time it has played up other than morning was the first time when arriving at Renehans
Bore on the Tanami late afternoon. That was a bit un-nerving way out there. It is going to be hard to find the cause, I have a new Exide Extreme battery and have had the starter motor and alternator re-built before they caused problems.
Thanks for giving thought to our problem. If you hear of anything else please let me know. All ideas are worth a go.
Cheers
Peter

OK, looks like my call is a bit wrong, but its something to remember.
Do you have " mystery " inline filter ? My Navara 3.0 TD has one at the fuel tank
Do you allow 2 - 3 seconds for the electronic injection to pump up ,, ( if that makes sence to you ? ) ie brings up the fuel line to full working pressure ,,,, then it should fire ( maybe )
Tried whipping oout the fuel pump from the tank ,,,, you may find that its blocked too,,,
And when all else fails, try that Chem Tec Injector cleaner
Cheers Mate

Thanks Bucky. I will try these things and see if they make any difference. I reckon it is a fuel problem so your suggestion might fix it
