Hi all.

Have had my TD3.0 patrol for about 8 months now..22,000km's.

Started to notice a vibration or resonating sound around the 2500rpm mark. Cruising at 100km/ph can be annoying unless increasing or decreasing speed.

I have a safari snorkel fitted.

Anyone experiencing the same??? is it normal. Maybe i'm just getting use to the car and being picky...not sure.

Thanks in advance...
Andrew

Andrew sounds like an induction noise, how is your air filter not dirty and in need of cleaning/changing.

Tony

Air filter was 1st thing I looked at. No worries there. I have noticed however that air is being sucked in via the join between the side of the engine bay and the pipe leading into the air filter itself!!!!
Looks like it wasn't sealed properly on installation of the snorkel. Easy to fix and that might be the problem.

cheers

Andrew,

Can you be more specific about where the vibration is coming from? If it's the front end it could be the shims/pre-loads need adjusting. GU's to tend to have an inherent front end vibration as a result of this but it can be easily and quickly fixed by Nissan. Ours became apparent at about 45,000 km's and like you came in at cruising speed of 100km/h. Slightly slower or faster and it went away.

Hope this helps.

Sorry Andrew,

I don't know anymore than that, just what the Nissan mechanic told my husband. It was about $100 job, quite common apparently and fixed it. Any decent Nissan mechanic would know what I'm talking about I'm sure.
