Hi guys,
Sorry if this question has been asked a 1000 times before.
There’s about 8 of us heading up near Ocean Lakes in October for a week.
I've heard that
Hook Point is closed or being closed and after doing the inland road once before I'm not keen for another round.
My questions are:-
What is the road from Moon point across to the East like?
Is there a closure of
Sandy Cape on the horizon?
Are there any tips that might make our trip a bit safer/more enjoyable?
Thanks guys.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Lee

Lee...
Just answering your "new" questions anyway....the inland road has been upgraded, we drove with our trailer on it last year and it was ok.....
the Moon point road was ok a couple of years ago, not like a Motorway of course but certainly easy to drive.
Sandy Cape is open, no camping up there and it can be a bit of a mission to get there, the last 10 k's or so in particular we found the sand quite boggy in January.
The lakes are all worth a visit, McKenzie is beautiful, as are Garawongary, Birrabee, Boomanjin, Allom, Wabby, Ocean, and a trip over to Wathumba Creek is
well worth the effort.
Have a chat with the rangers on the island, they're usually very easy to talk to!
Hope this helps
Cheers
Brian

i haven't been to fraser since last november and brian is right about
sandy cape being a challenge to get there but there is/was
nice camp spots just past
sandy cape going to the
lighthouse. i have camped there a few times, right on
the beach under the trees for shade but can get uncomfortable in northerlies. very sheltered spot a bit further on near the pro fishing
camp.
a quick ring to the
ranger will clarify. also browns rocks has camping mainly used during the tailor season.
