Hi all,
Thought I would tell you about the new little feature I added to the site earlier today. I am extending this for members however we wanted a way for regular readers to be able to see the content page updates that occur on the site. I have since implemented the Content Update System.
From this page you can see the updates that occur to the content pages of the site, these are all the non interactive pages such as trek notes, features, road conditions etc etc.
We are also extending the Latest News box on the LHS near the top to include Press Releases updates and also linking it to the Content Update System. So either read it as it rotates when you move around the site or use the little more... link to read all the information.
I have not worked out where to put the Content Update System on the menu but I will work it out soon. It is in the Latest News at the moment.
Oh yeah for the Members - I am also about to increase the scope of our email alerts system to other site areas so that you will be able to setup email alerts to notify you of updates that you are interested in such as Road Conditions, Press Releases etc etc.Regards

David,
Is your Member Stats page supposed to update automatically?
I updated my details (VKS 737
membership) but the member stats page does not reflect the change.....

Yes is does and the way the program works it reads the information directly from the database. So if your details have been updated then it would be reflected. Have your details been saved correctly?Regards

Yep, it shows up in my profile but the count under members stats has not changed - it showed 1 before I updated and still shows 1 today - I updated yesterday when I realised the facility was available.

Just a thought - I am registered under an international address (UK) but the address fields in the profile don't accept anything other than Australian states. Similarly, the postcode box won't accept full international codes which are often longer than Australian codes. Could this be part of the problem? Maybe the program does not recognise something that is perhaps 'different' ?

Maybe - I had better fix up this on the Members profile screen. I thought I had done it but alas I must not have - I will check this out when I get to do the update.Regards

David, this is good. If its for public (visitor) access, I'd put it in the lovely light blue menu items at the top of the page. If members only, or for the extended members' version you mention, put it in our members' menu bar (or include it in members' "
my Home" page).
An alert, such as the menu item flashing/blinking, to tell us that there is an update to look at would be useful. I'm not into scouring the entire sight to discover if there is anything new (same goes for when you add new products, which I notice is missing from the "
My Home" page info).
Also, being able to customise our our alerts, would be excellent. Another good reason to have
Forum Posts categorised, as per a recomendation some time back.
Thanks for the ongoing improvements.Be good, or be quick.
Rohan
