I have an ex boss who's moved on and is now a Director within the State Government.

He's now finding out what true Bulltish is about and wants to get away over Easter (Alice Springs) and surrounding areas.

His aim is to do a bit of walking in the Western Macdonnell and get away from the pressures of working life.

Since this is not my scene, can I ask for meaningful trek (walking) ideas and places of interest please (not you Hairy).

Regards

Kim

There is a walk out from Alice to Glen Helen paralell to Namatjira Drive, its a big one (walk) however and should only be done out of summer, he would need to be keen mate.

Any of the sites along the ranges have walks from their car parks of various lengths also. Contact www.alicesprings.net.au/ for more detail.

Gday Kim,
You asked a while ago about the Tanami and people?
I think the question was why was the road put through rather than by who
?
Anyway a mate just left who has been around here for nearly 60 years and his old man is still alive and kicking. I mentioned to him about you and he said to ask you what you want to know. So what exactly was your question again?
He also loves a beer and reminissing so if you call through one day I reckon you would love hearing some stories.
Heres one I didnt know....The Len beadell book ( the sketch of a bower shelter) were the motorbike comes riding through the house... he's the baby.
Cheers

Hey! What are you doing here? Checked - all of Aushiker's caches appear to be in WA...sure there's some to be had though.
Cheers

was just thinking that Aushiker might be out looking for caches if he is going. I've just got back from Alice Springs, unfortunately no time for caching this time around..too much golf, entertaining and Alice Springs St Pats Day cup...something had to give.

Nice to see you on here as well Greg....you are located in Bunbury as well if I am correct?

Yes I am in Bunbury but I try to keep a low profile - have spotted the WA 1968 car a few times. Next time I will make an effort to attract your attention so look out.

You'll need sun glasses if we pass. My new Prado is a thing of absolute beauty. What sets it aside from all other Prado's is the Latte machine on the roof rack and the Still in the back!
LOL

Hairy

Thanks for that. I'd be interested in talking to the guy.

I'm trying to establish if the first cattle drive from Billiluna Station to Alice Springs resulted in the opening of the Tanami Track.

It could be that the Tanami was the result of Chinese mining interest in the area and the stock route was further South of the present day road. Who knows.

There's also some conjecture as to who lead the first drive.

Be interesting to get some feed back from your mate. My e-mail address is kimmc@satlink.com.au

Regards

Kim
