The guys who compete in the Finke Desert Race do it in a couple of hours. Might take you a couple of days if you take it a bit slower and stop to smell the roses.

Hi red five
We did it in late January,we actualy camped at lamberts center and moved on the next day.

What sould have taken 3 1/2 hours took us a bit longer, See pics in my profile and you'll see why.

You follow the old Ghan track or the finke race track which ever is better at the time,
Just take it easy as we nearly came unstuck a couple of times.

Cheers Steve.

The Finke railwayline access track was last graded before 1980

Should take you about 5 hours as there are many 'bumps' to contend with. First obstacle is the Finke River. About 200metres of soft sand. See a few get bogged there.

The Finke Desert Racers fly along that track at 200kmh but if you land in the wrong spot you are history.

Its the sort of journey you take once only unless you are a glutton for punishment.

Enjoy
