Hi all just to give you a heads up. Repco have a sale on and Narva Driving lights for $99.00. They are the Ultima 175's
Went and bought a set myself and put them on the Pajero quite easy to install.
Should do the job for those late night trips.

Regards

dont waste your money these things are strictly for highway use. they jump out of there sockets and smash on the road. they are not even fit for 2wd use as I lost one in a 2wd on the way out to rocky pool I have lost 3 or 4 and got a better run out of $40 bustd arzze trifa lights

thats strange Dave, might be something to do with the heat out your way, expanding the housings too much.

I fitted a pair just as they were released about 6 years back to our 2wd hilux, now as you know they have the suspension of a house brick so i was interested to see how the lights went, well over 100,000k since a hell of a lot of it on really corrugated dirt with big pot holes etc. Well they are still there as good as the day they were fitted, never needed adjusting, very bright as i go for absolute overkill on the wiring. oh i did have to replace a globe at the 4 year mark.

Fitted 4 to the last jackaroo, same deal never a prob, and the jacks do have a lot of movement in the front chassis extensions so bullbars shake around heaps on rough roads, still got a couple to go on the new rig when i get around to it.

heaps of others i know also love em so maybe they just arent suited to conditions out your way. Worth you having a chat to your narva distributors over there.

cheers mate Brad.

Gotta agree with Bradley - put mine on over 3 years ago and have taken them over everything, including 37,500 km around Australia. I lost one of the clear covers, which I was able to replace at Esperance, and they are still going strong.

Davoe, If that's the light they are talking about then I think they may have been extremely lucky. It took us about four pair of these to break on the little trucks I used to drive before we woke up and went to Hella's. The little clip used to let the lens pop straight out of the housing at anything more than hard breaking.

Cheers Matt.

These are the same lights I have on my Frontera and Patrol. I was wary when I bought them but no probs in the 4 years I have had them.

I lost a lens cover while parked on one vehicle so we must have had an earthquake or something????

For the money they are hard to beat. Great light and cheap to replace but I haven't needed to yet. If i wanted something better I would go for a lightforce as these are just great but I am still waiting for the buggers to break.

Also I haven't needed to adjust them other than for sideways movement. They are mounted to the bullbar/nudge bar (vehicle dependant) and on the Patrol, with my daily rough dirt escapades, they have remained on the car inspite of the heavy vibrations, (and the odd bird).

I recommend them. Plus you have the option of the combination set for no extra. (mind you I paid a bit more than $99 at the time)

Cheers Cam

I have had a couple of pairs (only bought the second pair because I had them mounted on the roof rack for a night driving event and one hit a low tree branch and broke the body) But they have been to Cape York and back over all those corragations and every where else. For $99 you can't go wrong.

Leroy

PS has anyone got a Narva body they are willing to part with?

yeah dave, the very same lights, now i see 2 wa users with probs so im definetly thinking its either a bad batch went your way or its the higher ambient and radiant heat expanding the housings and allowing the mounting tabs to disengage.

I've only got one problem with the Narvas, in that the clear plastic covers jump off at the first sign of dirt...
Solution: wrap electrical tape around the light body at the retaining clips.
This would have been a better idea if I thought of it before watching both covers disapear under the wheels shortly before a stray rock smashed one...
Oh well, live and learn.

For $99.00. eh ..wow I wonder if the reflector is slightly frosted or would they be like a mirror as Lightforce and Hella's are, I know where I would invest my dollars and add same + again and end up with some driving lights, not a pair of torches .

any drive in WA wont take you long the morons here take delight in giving you a dazzle even on outr long straight roads. I have started sitting on the satalk as they crest the hill (I have been on dip for about a km ) and giving it to them for .25 of a second as they crest I mean if I can see their lights - they can see mine

sometmes get caught out by truckies as there cabs are higher so they get a dose of high beam before you see there dippedlights and dip
Always do my best to not dazzle others ut it seems entrenched in WA culture to only dip if yo are getting flashed

Yes, they are a good price at $99. Other auto places in Bne are selling them closer to $200 and $249 for the blue lens Narva series - they are an OK light but not worth that much.

The only issue with mine is that rain water does get in through the lower drain hole in the lens and clouds it up – I’ve dismantled them to try and “de-cloud” them but to no avail by using the spray on pc board electrical cleaner, white spirits, metho or glass cleaner but it still leaves them streaky and just as bad or worse when they’ve dried out – hard to push a rag in through the bulb area to wipe it out.

Any ideas anyone for a liquid cleaner that dries streak free?
