Looking at a 2nd hand Prado today and spotted one with 130,000 on the clock.
Now as I have not had a diesel before (
well had tractors but that was in another life) I am wondering if this is a satisfactory mileage?
As my mate said "for a diesel it is just run in".
Watcha reckon?

Hi Mal & Di,
What year is the car, what specs? Under use can be as bad as over use.
With any car I would like to check the service intervals especially. Both kilometers and time intervals.
I have ordered the new D4D, comes at the end of April after totalling my 2006 4.0 petrol. I had a 99 before that which was petrol so I can't comment yet on the diesel motor. The prado itself holds up
well even after a lot of punishment. My 99 had 240,000 at sale and it was still rock solid, we really treated it badly sometimes and it came through every time.

The D4D is just the most amazing motor. Happy 4WD'ing when you get yours . Had
mine for a week, the acceleration when giving it some stick is pretty damn good. I can see the Petrol motors dieing out.

Yeah, can't wait, didn't even test drive the diesel just saw the fuel stats and read the reviews and ordered it.
I think there maybe a time soon that we see better quality diesel fuel available in Aust. as in Europe.

I've a 01 turbo diesel auto prado that has 250,000km on it. It's still going great.

Hi Mal,
I have an 02 turbo diesel with 170k on the clock. It has been excellent reliability wise with no warranty claims apart from broken rear shock. The only mechanical gremlin has been a throw out bearing that had to be replaced at 150k. The only real problem I have found with the prado is that its front
suspension is way too soft if you have accessories like B/bar,winch and duel batteries. I cured this with OME
suspension upgrade. Make sure you have the full service history. In summary, I'm a happy camper and will be changing over to a new prado T/D next year.
Cheers
Kevin
