Hi all, here is a question for those who travel with Pop Tops caravans in the bush.
How do you stop dust getting into the van?
I have about 6 vents 2 of them have a thin layer of foam the other 4 don't.
It seems to create a vacuum into the van.
I have seen the roof opening latches which lets air/dust get in. not good in a convoy or dusty roads. Is there a vent with a good filter that I can buy and install.

Thanks

What we have done to ours is to attach covers to all the external vents with velcro and press studs in the corners, this also aids in water crossings to minimize the amount of water coming in.
Easy on, easy off

I have thought of sealing the vents but didn't know how. that might be an option.
Thanks

mmm
you can get filter grade material of varing qualities
from foam to woven type media used in domestic airconditioning
then onto commercial grade of varing qualities & as a rule the thicker the better
then onto oil coated media which is almost top of range.

any media which is coated in oil has better filtration qualities

You just need the mechanics to hold media....

I suggest that your biggest problem is the vacuum though......

Thats what the Caravan accessories place told me but there is no filter or fly screen to stop the bugs getting in.

Unless I turn it 180degrees, but won't the dust from the car get in.

Gday,
Try pressurising your van with air.
Blow air into it with a 12volt fan that runs through an air filter. I think you could buy them.
Cheers

Yes I did think of that too but it wouldn't take long before the filter gets clogged and then it's back to the same problem.

No different to the air filter on your car.
