Has anyone used any of the diy paint protection products like the one listed on www.counteract.com.au . I believe it is supposed to be something like the ming treatment. But is it any good or just another polish. Are there any others that you may have tried? I would appreciate any help.

Jjob,

I had a 100 Series "Cruiser that was done with this PTFE type treatment. This stuff is Teflon based. I found it to be brilliant. The car didn't seem to get as dirty so much or as often - You know what they say about Teflon," Nothing sticks".

It was a lot easier to clean - just a water wash and a chamois. No wax polish or rubbing etc.

I'm glad you put the site link up as I've been searching for a retail supplier. This PTFE stuff is the same stuff that these commercial car paint protection people use, for which they charge a fortune. But they won't sell the stuff to you over the counter.

However, I did once manage to 'acquire' some and we applied it to our caravan. The difference in the 'red dirt stickability' was obviuos. It was so easy to clean off, Just a quick hosing down. However, that was about the last of the stuff that I had.

Thanks, Jjob. I can now buy some more for myself.

I have no connection with any company - other than the wife's and sometimes I wonder about that as well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

;)

There is some good stuff out there John , and we have adopted a very readily available low cost product called Nu-Finnsh.

It puts a sort of silicon coating over paint and sort of works like wax except its much tougher and longer lasting.

Great to see how water beads off it everywhere , and I am sure we have less scrathces as a result as its so slippery.

But is overwhelming advantage for us is that it goes on easily and with much less effort than some other products we have used.
