G'day all,
Heading up to the
Gold Coast on Monday to take the kids to the theme parks, once that is out of the way I have a spare few days to do other stuff. All I am really after is some suggestions as to some nice bush areas to go visit. I will do my own research on the net ect, but was hoping some of you guy's and gal's might be able to point me in the direction of some good tracks/
treks to do. Nothing really wild, but maybe challenging would be great. My car is set up with winch, standard
suspension and I carry straps, shackles, tree protector, snatch block and shovel so should be able to self recover from most situations should they arise. I guess anywhere up to about 2-3 hours away from the GC will make it a comfortable day trip. If you can't help with actual
places to go any web site suggestions to research said
places would also be a great help
Cheers Stefan

Take the family to O'railey's for the day and come back along
Duck creek road to
Beaudesert. It's not challanging but a nice scenic drive.

Bribie is nice but my opinion it's not worth the money. You have to buy a permit (from recollection was $35) just to drive on
the beach. The permit is valid for one week. It is a further drive but why not head up to Teewah beach/
Rainbow beach. Is lovely up there, they don't charge you to drive on the sand, and you can take pics of the sand and say look kids that is where the
Cherry Venture use to be!!!!!!!!!
Cheers
Jo

Stefan,
O'Reillys is a good place to visit
Check out some walks here
Also another place to spend some time is at Mt Tamborine.
Overview of Mt Tamborine
Of course you could go over the border to the Northern Rivers of NSW
Anyway there are lots of
places away from Coast and within a 3 hour drive.

Bribie would be a bit of drive from the
gold coast and it's a LOT smaller then fraser. Not that much driving on it actually, only
the beach and some track to access campsites on the west side. If you're going to travel that far then you might
check out the state forests around Beerwah and the kenilworth area, but I think yuo would be better off going west of the
gold coast towards
boonah perhaps. Condomine
gorge? Don't know too much about that area. Maybe others can help.

very dry and lots of lantanna. didnt enjoy it myself. went over the whole place with a standard GU petrol with new AT tyres... even the extreme tracks, nothing to make you worry too much there. that was september last year.
check out

sensational tracks, not much scrub stuff and you can usually always find mud. the drive there is spectacular! much more enjoyable than
beaudesert. still have to watch out for cows tho :-P
cheers

overpriced.
Another place is
The Springs 4X4 park out at
Warwick, about 2 1/2 hours from the
Gold Coast.... I have been to both but much prefer
the Springs.
Rover Park is about 3 1/2 hrs from here, that's another good park... Levuka is around 2 hours....
Cheers

City View doesn't do much for us at all, Went there once, didn't like it, went there twice to initiate a new 4by owner, came away hating it.

www.levuka.com.au tracks from 1 thru to 5 , "the playground " tests most and the R/h track thru the mudpit [going uphill ] is most deceptive going up or down .

Try the area around the Border Rangers National Park and west of Mullumbimby.
You will certainly need nore than 2/3 hours to explore this great area.
Regards.
