All,

On Good Friday heading to Stanthope/Ballandean for the Easter Weekend. Planning on following parts of the Condamine Gorge Track in Dirty Weekends to make the trip a bit more interesting.

Has anyone done this recently - What are the track conditions like, incl water levels which I imagine are low? We all have capable but std 4WD's I will have a Pajero and Off Road CT (done the cape so not too worried). Lowest spec car is a Forrester - will it be ok?

Appreciate any advice. I will provide an update when we get back.

I have done Condamine Gorge several times. Just fell in love with the place and did it 4 Saturdays in a row out of Brisbane. I took along a Hyundai Tucson, the water levels are really low. A Forrester should have no problems if taken slowly. A couple of the crossings have big rocks in them.. with the Hyundai I just let the auto idle through the rocky ones in case I hit a rock. (less speed = less damage I hope) but had no problems at all. It is a beaut drive but very dusty... so much so that when we had rels up from melbourne we didn't bother to stop and boil the billy. Too much dust from passing cars.

You'll love it. If you go to the cafe up on top of the range, you can buy a book for $5 that tells you the history of the road and where the various houese, schools used to be.

have fun... cheers

I was there October last year - beautiful drive, and really easy. Forester should do it ok if the water level isn't up (I'm in Toowoomba, been bugger all rain here and don't expect they've had much down there either). Water levels were quite low when I did it in October.

It all depends on the water level. When I went though a year ago there were only some puddles. Nothing more then an inch deep. Could've done it in an excell.
A mate of mine went about 2 months before with water over the bonnet.
