Can any member give me any in-depth info on the Oztent Deluxe Screen Room.
Details such as size, weight, ease of erection etc would be handy.

Brenton

Not sure if ours is the deluxe Screen Room but it cost $299

We are very happy with it as it provdes shade for the artist who is painting or for the loafer reading a book.

All sides open with screens and can also be closed/covered by zip around awning cover. So as the sun moves you can shade and area. It keeps the flies out too.

It is a bit fiddly to erect but you soon get the drift of it.

Cheers

Thanks Willem...by the description that's the one. I have alreday purchased a screen tent of another cheaper variety which I was thinking of taking to the Birdsville races this year, but in standing back and perusing my purchase I realized that although it was pretty simple to erect there was no shade from the sun. I then saw the Oz screen tent which has the zipped screens/awnings you described. The pictures I have found so far are quite small and have little info as to easy of erection, size, weight etc. From the pictures it looks a little complicated and I notice you describe it as "fiddly". Can you elaborate a little on what effort is required. I've already been down the track of divorce style tents in my younger days.

Brenton,
These are very simple to erect and well worth the money. My mate bought one the day before our last trip and we found it very easy to erect the next day at the base camp that we had.

They also seem to pack up well also so that is an added bonus.

Enjoy

Hmmmm Kev says its easy and I say its fiddly....must be an age difference here...LOL

Poles are on the outside and it really takes two to erect. As far as I can remember (its been 8 months since last used) once the poles are up you fit a brace on the inside which tightens the whole framework and after that you can bang the tent pegs in. I probably said fiddly, as each time we have erected it,it has been on sand.

Still it is a worthwhile unit to have.

Cheers

Willem,

The age gap may have played a part, but we are both builders with wives that know when to read instructions. LOL

We did it sober and on firm ground for the first attempt. The poles on the outside make the erection easier as you don't need to be inside the tent to fit the poles like other tents available.
With a 3 year old and 2 new borns looking on we did it with minimal of fuss, which was fortunate as our mate was erecting his modifed touring tent for the 1st time as well which turned into a bundle of laughs. He finally realised that he left the modified poles at home and had to rig up another method.

Cheers Kev

Thanks for your comments Jack but I was already aware of the site and had already Googled, and checked this forum.
It still didn't give me the inside performance story that only an owner can know...things such as.. what room in the car is need to store it, weight, quality, problems, just how difficult is it to put up, would you buy it again or something else etc.
