I am planning to buy a workshop manual for my 98 gxl 100 series diesel. I am not sure of the cost of these books but I gather there are may be a couple of options on workshop manuals. Can anyone reccomend any particular one or is it better to get a genuine toyota version. I would appreciate any suggestions and thanks in advance!
Geoff

I use the Gregorys #520. Its a useful DIY manual for the money.
The Ellery's is much harder to read, so I rarely refer to it.
The factory manuals come in several parts, cost a lot, and are way more comprehensive than the average DIY needs.
I don't know whether theres anything out there on CD. We bought a CD of the factory manual for our Xtrail off Ebay.

Funny - I just borrow one from the Library - I'm the only one who's ever borrowed it so I've been thinking of telling them it would be easier for them and me if they just gave it to me to keep.
It is an older
Gregory's that doesn't do the TD - just the 1HZ ... I looked at Repco last week and it was at about $80 and the guy offered me best price of $62 when I looked like leaving in disgust ... I still didn't buy it, thinking I'd be able to find it on eBay.
Unlike the old version it is a paperback - rathet than a hard back, and a real paper cover too, and the paper inside is like newsprint ... and I'm paying $62 for that?
I'm watching eBay for the moment, and borrowing from the library when I need to.
Cheers
Andrew.
