Hi, I'm planing my trip to Darwin in July, and would like to hear from anyone who has travalled from Borroloola to Mataranka via roper bar along the Nathan river Rd. I realy would be interested in an updated road report, the amount of vehicles that travel that road then, and any other info you would like to submit? Thx

Hi Zha - What vehicle and van/camper will you be taking?
We will be traveling the same track end of June.
Another source of information on road conditions is the people at Lorella Springs ( since they live there.) www.lorellasprings.com/ Worth a phone call - friendly folk.

Hey Keith
when were you last at Lorella? Are Pat and Wayne still running the show?

Hi Zha - we leave Brisbane on 17th June and will take 5 days to reach Cape Crawford (Lorella springs actually).
Did the long hours driving/travelling when younger - decided it was time to slow down and smell the roses (actually - overworked myself into a breakdown - so was forced to. Now a volunteer giving talks in schools on stress and mental health - but thats anther stpry).

Driving a Patrol 4.2 td towing a 1.8 ton Poptop (off road Coromal).
Will spend a few days in Darwin before heading off to GRR and Tanami.
Here is an interesting site with good description on the Nathan river road:

Yeah thanks for the sites. The road is flooded out at the moment which is usual for this time of the year. Have you recently travelled it in late june-july? Lorella springs seems lovely. I would think by the time we get their you will be long gone. So if you can't fit all the barra that you've caught into your fridge. We shldnt be too far behind .....

Gday,
Just a little warning....Recently a couple of locals (Alice Springs ) got busted for taking too many fish.
The bag limits are fish in your possesion! Darwin people can bag out 3 times a day if they take the fish home but if your not a resident you will be prosecuted for whats in your freezer!
Cheers

If you want some real adventure them go to Lorella station, the track out to rossie creek(depending on the weather) will very from extreme to the insane.
But it is well worth it.
