The engine to which Motherhen refers, didn't sell. The auction was pulled by the seller because it didn't reach his minmum price of $6,500.00.

However, the engine in question is 6.2 litre V8. Not quite the same as a 6.5 but close. I'd reckon it's a bit pricey as buying the engine is only the first step in getting a truck converted. There's a heap of other work that needs to be done before the whole package is a viable proposition.

These engines can be bought 2nd hand ex-the States for about $1,000 plus $500 for shipping to "Oz" - condition = 'bought as is".

My conversion cost $20k for the total package of a near new,"softly rebuilt" 6.5 V8, near new GQ gearbox, near new GQ diffs, H/D clutch, 100 amp alternator, huge new brass radiator, new power steering pump, new aircon compressor, engine mounting changes etc, etc, etc. That doesn't leave enough to pay that price for just the engine. They can be bought cheaper IMHO.

I also paid another $6k for suspension mods, electrical mods and other odds 'm sods.
