Just a word of warning following an issue discovered this weekend when changing winch over to new vehicle.
Have had winch for about 18 months and no problems
yet when testing after swap over it would not drive cable out from winch.
Cable freespooled out and retracted ok.
while continuing testing big bang then nothing.
on removal and dissassembly discovered 2 of 3 brake assemble bolts rattling around inside drum and the third had sheered off but after winding almost out.
fortunately was able to reassemble unit ( with lots of loctite)and now seems to be working ok.
took the opportunity to rotate gearbox assembly to make access to control lever easier and gave whole unit a grease.
pretty easy unit to work on and would recommend to anyone who has purchased/is thinking of buying one of these units to check this assembly for piece of mind.
It would seem that the vibrations over 40,000 km is to much for the gaer.
regards
Howard
