Is the Diamantina still flooded in the Birdsville Track area?
Drying out or getting wetter please.

Can't help with the flooding, but there has been stuff all rain in the headwaters of the Diamantina.

Ring ahead or check the racq. https://secure.racq.com.au/ssl/road_reporting/roadreport/0213_main_map.cfm

Have a good one

Thanks for that handy wee site - it's up to date and I've bookmarked it.
Still a few weeks off before I head out that way.

Just had a quick look at www.bom.gov.au at the moment the Queensland Flood Warnings facility is not available but if you go to bom you can generally find info on most rivers in Oz.

From the home page click Qld (in red) then look for flood warnings?rivers information.

The site has all the weather info you could ever want but it has changed a bit and I think it is more difficult to find stuff than it used to be.

Another excellent site that I didn't know about. Bookmarked.
Took particular notice of the Qld flood warning centre.
cheers

Drying out. Where & when are you trying to go? Might make it easier to reply.

Hi Ruth,
Just a query regarding the status of the Birdsville Track. Exploroz Desert roads page still has it under caution (4WD only) at the Birdsville end because of the state of the Diamantina.
I will be in the area April/May and want to get down to Mungerannie if possible.
cheers

Hi TR - you shouldn't have any trouble if just going Birdsville-Mungerannie. Only problem will be if trying to go across Warburton onto K1 and into Simpson or west from Birdsville via QAA and across Eyre Creek and again , into the Simpson. State of road will depend whether graders have been on from SA end and whether Diamantina Shire has graded the first 13 klms on northern end. By the time you are going it could all be done. I won't be going back out until end May but talking to people out there all the time. Send me email if you want an update. OK?

Thanks Ruth. I was going to say hello to you at the BV caravan park but I read on here that you've retired to the good and easy life. Things should have dried out by the time I get there.

cheers
