Isn't some one doing a lot of work up around the Cherry Venture?

Might be the easiest way to get there.

Photo after we removed the straps

I would not it either.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can assure it did happen no trick's.
The wind was so strong I did not want to get out of the truck. No one else except for the white 4X4 stopped to help. At least 5 4x4's went past.
The driver of the cement truck had called for a 4x4 truck to come to the rescue but as the water was lapping at the back wheels we thought we would give it a go.
While we were at it the 2WD cement pump truck arrived and also got bogged.

They may still be on the beach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What were they doing is a good question.

But we should also ask why do we help these people? Don't get me wrong Al, I am not having a go at you. I think we have all done it. Used our skill and our vehicle to get some clown out of trouble. But why? What's in it for us?

Do we get good press for it? No!

Do we get well paid for it? No!

I just think every now and then it would be good to pull up along side some idiot who has got his on road vehicle stuck in an off road spot, roll down the window and say, "That was dumb wasn't it. Looks like your in a bit of trouble, tuff."

Just sometimes I'd like to do that but, I'm a 4wd enthusiast I like the challenge and like most 4wd types I'm basically a nice guy. Like you Al.

Maybe next time we could give a quote, $10 for use of a snatch strap, $50 for use of my vehicle and say $30 per hour or part thereof for my time and skill. It would still be a cheap recovery for the moron who took his concrete truck onto the beach, or the fool in the 180B trying to get to that special surf spot. Especially if the tide is on the way in.

By the way Al, nice recovery job, well done. Reminds me of thie time I snatched a large tractor out of a bog on a property down near Golburn. It was the last thing I did in the last century. Apart from ripping the top off a can or two of Guiness

I guess it would be 40MPa concrete which would set quite quickly.

Maybe they could have pumped out a driveway and driven out after a few hours!! LOL

Not that unusual.. There is a few buildings being done at the township of Teewah (Just behind the dunes at the start of the sand hills.. there is a nice stand of Norfolk pines near the entry cutting.. .. what is a little unusual is that the builder did not have an excavator or something on hand to help these guys out a bit... The builder will normally have the area flattened out and water dropped onto the track etc so that these trucks can get a bit of a run up on some compressed sand...

After leaving the Concrete truck we went on to Rainbow beach and Inskip Pt.
to find that the camping ground is disappearing into the sea at Inskip Pt.
Now called The Grey Nomads camping ground!!!!!!!!!!

We then headed for the Bunya Mts. then on to Dalby,Warwick & the Condamine gorge and home around 1000Km.

Except for the very strong wind's on the beach we all had a great trip and home in one piece.
