Hi guys (and girls), picked up my new NS Pajero DID yesterday. Very excited. Having not had a Paj before, I have a question regarding the 4WD activation.
If I try to select 4WD high from 2WD whilst stationary, the front wheels on the 4WD indicator in the instrument panel just keep flashing and it doesn't seem to engage the front wheels. If I try whilst i'm moving it changes over with no problems. Do you have to be moving to activate 4WD high from 2WD? In the manual it says you can activate either stationary or on the move up to 100km/h.
Cheers, Sam.

Put the Auto in neutral first.

That'll do it works for me every time, sometime I need to give it a bit of a rev in neutral. I know it goes against all logic but it works for me, much better than reversing all over the place.
I also find a bit of forward motion helps as
well. So it goes without saying it is always prudent to select your gearing prior to tackling the obstacle, the Pajero transmission hates it when you try to select 4LLC while you are hung up on a
rock.

My NP never had a problem like yours. I'd get it checked out.
Disengaging 4WD was sometimes problematic (even had to go in reverse occasionally) but nearly every fourby I've ever driven has been like that.

I have a 2000 NM which does the same. It also happens going from Hi to Lo.
I dont know the anwser, but then again neither do Mitsi. They claim it is from not going into 4wd often enough, yeah sure.
Anyway you will find the wheels do engage, its just the computer that doesnt understand.
Try www.pajeroclub.com.au
Plenty off stuff there.

Sam,
Have you activated your security alarm system? See p 14 & 16 of your manual.

Hi Jon, yes I activated it last night after reading the manual and remembering a post i read somewhere about it being set to inactive at the factory. Can't work out why MM have done that. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with new NS's that don't have the alarm activated.
Thanks for
the tip.
