I have just sent off the order for my new LX Rodeo Dual Cab pick up 3.0CRD

Over the last six months I checked all of them out Hilux, Triton, Navara, Ranger/BT50 the lot.
In the end the Rodeo won out because:

It's a reasonable all round package.
The new motor is an absolute corker.
The rest is a known quantity.
Off/On road compromise is OK
The styling update looks OK without being too "Space cadet" (Triton.Hilux)
Not too bland and plain Jane like Ranger.

Best of all Holden are giving away $9000 off retail price and the dealer gave me $5000 more for my 04 Rodeo than I was led to expect from carpoint etc.

I'm happy!

Then I lashed out and ordered a ARB steel bar and a set of Silent Armour 245/75/16 tyres and six spoke alloys.

All up it was $2000 less than what the 04 Rodeo cost back then and it's a far far better equipped vehicle.

I'm real happy.

I reckon the Rodeo with a co-operative dealer must be the best value around at the moment.

BTW I have no commercial association with Holden, not much of a fan either, but I like value.

You sure you haven't got a 2006 model? If so, you won't have the new motor.

I'm surprised they are discounting the new one already. Also the front is quite different, so I'm surprised ARB has a bullbar to fit.

Otherwise, sounds great to get the newby for $-9000.....

Where do I sign. :)

oooooooh yeah I made sure of that, they are calling it the MY07.
It has a the new CRD motor 120kw 360nm and a new box.

Intercooler now sits on top of engine and has a scoop thingy on the bonnet. Not the most attractive thing but it does get it plenty of cool(er) air

The front sheet metal, grille and headlights are different as are tailgate, taillights, wheel arches, Rest is the same. In other words a classic update trick. Change the bits that are easy to change and leave the others alone.

The interior has some new plastic bits, the rest was OK anyway. seats seem a lot better now. The old ones were probably the worst feature of that car (for me anyway)

I was surprised that ARB has the bar (I checked very very thoroughly)
ARB Cairns had fitted 3 or 4 already, Currently a three week wait for production.
Apparently they are selling their head off.

As to the discount, only thing I can put it down to is Holden not wanting to fall behind being the last to release the new/updated vehicle.

I read somewhere that Rodeo is No 2 in its class behind Hilux and is Holdens no 2 name plate behind Commodore. (No doubt someone will correct me if I'm mistaken here) In any case there is an awful lot of them around.

I rather suspect the discounts won't be around for ever, if they are, the others will have to do some adjusting to prices too, or get caught out in the rush.

"Best of all Holden are giving away $9000 off retail price"

That's great, when I was looking, '03, Holden were not willing to move more than about $1500 unless I had an ABN... And I didn't like the driving pos, ride, handling but they're all very subject to personal requirements and opinion...

Darn I've been ripped off, I only got $7000 discount, and they didn't want to know about my 99 Rodeo.

The odd thing was that the LT which retails for $5000 more would only attract a discount of $6000. Figure that one out.
