In WA I believe you can purchase a pass from CALM which will give you free access to National Parks (for
camping) for a year.
Has anyone used these up north and also does NT & QLD have similar schemes?

Hi vcbb,
Yep you can get a 4 week pass or an annual
park pass. I've used it up in
Exmouth and quite a bit down south of WA. You can also purchase them off this site.
Cheers
Darren

They are great in the south. It is very easy to visit multiple parks when sight seeing in the SW, which can get a bit pricy if you dont have the pass.
In 2005, our pass paid for itself in a week!
cheers
Mike

Hi vcbb, we get one each year, they cover most National Parks except
Monkey Mia & The Tree Top Walk down south. The other States I'm not sure about but I would surmise that they'd have their own.
Cheers

Annual all parks pass from CALM per nominated vehicle (with up to 8 passengers) $75 (concessional $55). Annual for 1 nominated
park $20. 4 week 'holiday' all parks $35. When we went to
Monkey Mia, it was extra and not included on the pass - i don;t know if this is still current.
I don't know about NT & Qld. Tassie was $50 for a holiday all parks pass.

Hi All,
The Annual "All Parks" pass in WA is only for entry fees and as previously indicated does NOT cover
Monkey Mia or TreeTop Walk.
Some National Parks charge a
camping fee on top but there are a number of N/Parks where
camping is free. Usually these are the "bring everything including
water and wood" campsites.
More Information can be googled by typing "Naturebase." into the search program.

Hi vcbb.
The only
park in the NT I know of that has a charge now is Uluru N P, all the rest are free to enter but may have a
camp fee.
Cheers Steve.

To answer some of your question, QLD does not have such a scheme (or any annual system for that matter)....

SA has
the Desert Parks Pass and an Annual National Parks Pass which gives you 5 days free entry and
camping in any National
Park at any time.

It doesn't cover the Dryandra either and if
camping fees apply, they are extra.

I didn't go into
El Questro because of the accumulative nature of the rather high charges - you pay to go in, you pay to
camp, etc. However, I believe that these charges are levied by the private El Questo company, not by Calm.
As we were moving North up the Gibb we had seen all the gorges and waterfalls we could handle by that stage anyway so were quite happy to pass by!
I was told by a traveller travelling South down the Gibb that the 'peasants' at
El Questro are only allowed in the waterholes/springs at certain times so that the 'toffs' don't have to mix with the great unwashed! (Who obviously would be washed if they were allowed in!)

hi greydemon
the zeberdy springs, you have got to get in and out before lunchtime other wise yeah, the tour buses start coming in droves. with all the cow boy tour operators with huge paying tourists, just watch out for these guy's on the all the roads up there (cowboys) there don't care about other road uses, they are on time scheds , to get the trip over and done with, and pick up the next lot.
a mob called pinickle tour operators are the worst , they don't give a damn about the clients , other road users or thier vehicles.
bugger me

Hi.
the pass is of no use in the Bungles & Quite a few others. Ask the question when you are thinking of applying as we could have saved our selves money on the
Gibb river road. The pass only covers for some entry's not all & never for
camp fees.
The Landscope magazine is worth subscribing to though if thatis part of the annual pass deal.
Cheers Bungarra
