Hi all
Looking at checking out
Stanage Bay through
easter school holidays.
Its on the coast between
Rockhampton & Mackay (but
well off the Bruce Highway)
Does anybody know if there is a caravan park or camping ground or the like?
We've got a camper trailer and are looking at spending afew nights there.
Any info would be great.
Thanks Loughma.

Hi ,best spot is right beside
the beach across from the Plum Tree Creek store .Need to take your own water and
camp sites are provided with barby plates, chemical
toilets are also close nearby.I think you can pretty much
camp right along
the beach front in several locations but the previous area has the mentioned amenities.Sand flies are pretty thick ,but be warned about the midges that are absolutely ferocious and do not seem to be detered by Rid or other insecticides. The midges seem to be at their worst at first light especially on still mornings and get through tent insect screens quite easily.
Apart from that what a great spot and there is also a
dam to wash off the salt after a swim. This
dam is situated along the first turn right when you first reach the place.Head up this way a short distance and you will find it off the road to your left hand side.Further up this road is the first lot of houses and make sure that you
check out the view via the track to the top of the headland,AWESOME. Not much room to turn around with a trailer though when you reach the top.
The beach here is a nice spot to take that dip in the ocean if you wish.
Hope this may help you Loughma............Scott
