Hi to all... not often I ask but this time I am stuck.

30 years of touring the country and never begun from Perth.

This time we begin there and head off for a drive around the place. Normally we arrive and stock the vehicle from well frequented supply stores up and down the east coast and so know where to shop.

Can anyone suggest a camping supply store in Perth ?

We are looking for the basic fitout..porta-potty (SWMBO) refuses to use a shovel..hammock, rope, axe, pressure light and similar knick knacks.

She has already left as there was a "need" to just sit by a pool. I however am "bag boy" and so don't leave until Sunday April 1st.

Any assistance will surely be appreciated.

Depends where you are, there is Cargills Outdoor Centre, 80 Burswood Rd in Burswood. There is Ranger Camper who have stores all over the metro area. There is also Midland Disposal stores all over the Metro area.
I think there is a lot more but can't think of them off the top of my head at the moment.

Cheers

N.B. to me.."Read the posts"

I'm one of those expats..one of those who returns home every year..one of those that some seem to like to criticise..but it is usually in good fun.. gosh we even drive a "rental"..speak english too .. lol

Canada is a nice place but not quite like home.

Sorry Richard.. wasn't meaning at all to imply anything..that's one of the problems with written comms, never know the writers intent.

my comment about reading the posts.. was a shot at ME ! Dunworkin began with "Depends where you are"... I was simply adding that I wasn't in Perth.

Although I did extend that and make mention of the topic of some folks at home attitude to 'expats'.

And I appreciate the good advice that came forward from my "dumb" enquiry.

But now it is in the Search function of the site and so if someone else comes along wanting to know the same thing then they will find it.

Yes, I did use the search but it only came up with the goods supplied by the manufaturer... Now we all know the greqat stores and where they are in Perth.

I hope I have explained and not upset anyone.

Also recommend a family-run business in Balcatta:
Go Camping.
Worth checking out.

Now this is why I enjoy the site.. Good folks just have the knowledge.

Thank you for the information.. all I need now is a map to find the suburbs and away we go. Of course I wont tell her that I had to ask where places are..well not a male thing to do is it now :)

Thank you again

:)

Yup that's me..old..not politically correct..etc. etc. use MAPS.. good reason to stop, roll a smoke, burp, put the map on the hood, vent about the skills and nagging of the "navigator" and figure out where the heck are we.

And NO batteries ! Mind you the GPS is a good thing for those days when you come to a 5 track corner. :)

"eh" ! I ain't no eastener... cattle country aboot here mate .. lol

And if you are that close to a grizzly then you don't need a map to know what to do next ..lol

Thanks again

I too recommend cargill's. Very well priced for most things.

Otherwise, ranger camping, BCF, Midlands disposal (although they are definitely not as cheap as they used to be) are also worth a look.

Gday PeterLL and all

I like the sound of the Family owned business mentioned earlier. I got a pretty good deal from BCF on the swag I bought at xmas time, but the staff on the floor were no help at all. I was walked past a number of times, and gave the I need help look a few times with no response. (there was plenty of staff and only 3 customers in the shop). I ended up pulling my leatherman out, opening a pallet of new stock, spreading the plastic wrap everywhere to find the size/style I wanted, then went and paid for it.

The lady at the counter was very nice, and helpful with directions to another place I wanted to go to, I will give them that. I had heard a few times that the larger, discount stores like this has poor service, but this is my firs experience of it. Super Amart in Darwin is a similar type store, and the service has always been pretty good so far.

Cheers andrew

Same all over mate , all it is is a job , they [staff] [floor walker] have no interest in the products they are asigned to sell, if you ask them a simple question you'll get a blank look ...Duh !!! and they don't know schitt from Clay. OK but all stores are not like that and an exception is the service and know how from Johnny Appleseed GPS on Ipswich Road, Annerley ,The service is supreme. Not sure about the shop behind it though. !!!!!??????
