im only an occassional 4wder maybe 5 times a year when i go im not hardcore and found that the road tyres on my hilux were fine and i never slipped on any surface. im planning on a trip to fraser island at the end of the year i only drive my triton every now and again as we've got a little city car so with the wealth and experience of all forum users id like to find out what would be a great cheap tyre thats well suited to these needs.

Your street tyres will be OK for Fraser Island. Just let them down to 15-18 psi and buy a good compressor with the money you saved. Driving on sand requires a large contact area for grip not a specific tread. In fact, some say bald is best. (Especially bald people).

what size tyre are you talking about theres a few options with cheaper tyres but different sizes can make a difference.one cheap not to bad tyre to look at might be a simex.looking foward to easter at jamieson
