Have a great trip Robin.
We off with a club trip to the Flinders, leaving wed. morning.
We'll be trying out a few new things also - Hercules 245/75/16 M/T's, Firestone air bags, smartire pressure monitoring system, new
camp kitchen, and chair/table set up.
Can't wait only 2 more sleeps.
Cheers, Wayne.

Robin,
Where is
Talbotville? I'm always on the
lookout for new spots.
The only place I can find in my map book is
Talbot, just NW of
Ballarat.
Cheers,
Jim.

Talbotville is one of those few
places that has all the assets you used to remember.
Lots of tracks , maybe 50 river crossings in area , dogs allowed , plenty of room with maybe 1km of acessible river frontage ,
mine shafts and historic stuff , can get vans in and 2wds if you don't mind rough narrow road, huge hills ,
Billy goat bluff ,Wonnagatta and Blue rag all local trips, fireplaces and basic loo's, no CDMA.
45 min to
Dargo for New years eve parties and supplies - actually its a lousy place and eveybody should stay away.

You could get a 2WD in via Grant - not sure about a van (wasn't considering one last time I did it) but you should probably have low range on that road (especially with a van!) to avoid excessive brake use).
erm... arrr... maybe...
Talbotville is a bit too big and easy to get to for my liking - attracts too many people with motor bikes and sound systems but each to his own.

G'day Robin,
will be at Deddick in the high country. Running in an off road trailer I have been modifying: converting from 9" park only to 10" electric brakes (yes I have blue fingertips,) building bunks for the kids, wiring for 3rd battery etc.
Probably returning north via
Omeo to visit my Wife's Great Aunt and Uncle on the
farm, then tootling back over the Currango High Plains to show the kids some
brumbies.

Robin,
I will be in the
Snowy River area over
Easter, then later in the month in the
Vic High Country.
Talbotville has changed a lot since the fires went through. The Crooked river has almost stopped flowing and a lot of the country is burnt out.
We will still be going there but it will not be the same as you would remember it.

Hi Wayne
Will be going with fingers crossed alright, no one can prevent the way the fires got started but I get seriously upset at a management system that ends up contributing to such a huge area being lost.
On the brighter side we were up at our place on the weekend on the western side of HC and recent rains have really started a change with beautiful new fields of grass shoots coming thru and even the
dam has come up a bit.
Have a good trip on the snowy.

Off to camp in Mum & Dad's back yard at Port Stephens. Little sister and her kids are going too. If only we could get my brother and his family across from
Perth it would be the first full family gathering in years.
There are a lot of downsides moving back to the big smoke from
Broken Hill but a big plus is time with family.
Doubt that I will be engaging the transfer case but we might get a little drive on the beach, maybe a sail in Daddy's 30' cat. That would be nice.
