Hello

I am thinking of taking a holiday to North Stradbroke Island. Just me, the husband and the dog in our 4wd. Has anyone done this type of a trip yet, if so did you have a good time, where did you camp and what would you recommend doing whilst there. Any other comments you can make would be good.

Hi there.... we camp with our dog on Flinders beach. Dogs allowed, drop toilets and very quiet if you go midweek out of school hols.

Last 2 times we have had the whole place to ourselves.. except for the goannas. (Sand monitors)

You'll have a good time.

Cheers

We don't have a dog, but we go there all the time - have been going to Straddie for holidays ever since I was born and always have a good time, it's just such a beautiful and peaceful spot. You can camp at Flinders Beach (drop toilets, no showers) or Main Beach 10km south of the causeway (no toilets there). It's a great place to go, and you wont regret going there. Don't forget the beach permit! Some holiday rental houses may allow you to have a dog too, if that's more your style.

My vote is Flinders. Great spot, good drop dunnies, can have the dog. Easy access to everything.

We been to Straddie many times but what stops us a bit is the $180 for the ferry if you tow a camper trailer.
Otherwise Stradtbroke Island is beautiful . Take some Goggles and visit blue lake too.

$180 for the ferry is the same cost for car only with two people on Micat to Moreton. If you want to take the trailer double the price and if you have extras in the car $30 for children and $40 for adults. We are off to Straddie this weekend because of the extra cost for my sister with kids and visitor. $280 compared to $112 for Straddie for barge fares only, driving and camping nearly the same. Only sad thing is we are leaving the camper at home and going to tent it for the 3 nights.
Cheers
