Mr Fawlty
The steering on the Jazz got very heavy so took it to my local Honda man who in the past has to his credit been very honest & fair. He says after looking at it for an hour that the power steering unit is faulty and will have to be replaced at a total cost of $4298.57 but he will have to order one in and it could take a while as they don't usually break down. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (long and cognitave) says I but he says it is just going to be a bit heavy to steer but no harm will come if you drive the vehicle untill we can get the parts.......
Ok cut to the home garage, once a proud place where all manner of mechanical apparatus was designed, built and maintained... I remember the days when there was the sounds of industry (that no doubt annoyed the hell out of the neighbours) as steam boats were built and the whistles tested... those were the days... anyway I digress. I thought I'd have a poke around this to see if there was any thing that said "DO NOT OPEN - NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE" so that I could open it and see. To my amazement these wee Jazzes have electric power steering so I just gave up and thought "Ok I'll have to pay". Then for reasons that only someone with PTSD could explain I took the cover off the fuse box and had a look inside, there is a fuse maked "P/steer", naturally it was blown and when I replaced it with another the thing worked as per normal...
May just return tomorrow and tell Mr Honda that I don't need the part...It was an honest mistake, the trained technician had no reason to check the fuse...

Your are more generous than me Fawlty - experts are paid to be experts - they are not paid to be wrong. Glad you fixed it for 10c :)

i dont know mr f
how dare you overrule the trained techie he has spent many years in training learning how power steering and other bits work did he check 1st to make sure it wasnt low on fluid and that the were no leaks
must have been a power leak if the fuse was blown
poor bugger will probably have a breakdown now he has been overruled
lolololol
better him than your 4grand anyway
i no longer go to dealers unless i,m desperate

Mr Fawlty,
I wonder what would have happened after your part arrived and they started the work only to discover the blown fuse. You have a good history with them so they probably would have done the right thing by you and fessed up. Plenty wouldn't though.
Now you need to convince the boss that the extra $4298.47 has been saved by you and should be available to spend as you see fit. Good luck with that one.
Matt.

Mr Faulty, I fail to see what possible use blonde bimbos would be in a power steering box...many of them have short fuses also :))

Bonz, checked all my gizmos and couldn't find any bimbos. Maybe I've been looking in the wrong
places? With my luck, I'd probably discover one with her own spare tyre!

All's
well that ends
well.... The Honda man was totally and absolutley embarassed beyond belief that his factory trained technician had not checked the fuse. To their credit we have come to a mutually agreed arrangement that I am not allowed to disclose but I am ecstatic with the final outcome. I am not allowed to disclose his name but there are only 2 dealers in
Canberra and I live on the southside....
This is the first time EVER that I have struck a car dealer who did not try to fob off my complaint or give stupid excuses.
If this Friday was not a day of strict religious observance I was going to suggest that a meeting of ACT people could take place at the Mi Mi club, at my expense, regrettablby as I say - strict religious observance....
