I have 2 x 60 W solar panels. They are hinged and portable. At present there is a cumbersome frame that fits onto the towbar and the panels are mounted on to that.
They are described as SP60's and have a Morning Star sun saver 10 controller.
Question: Are these suitable for roof mounting?
The controller etc and wiring is exposed and not encased . However as I have never seen under a roof mounted solar panel I am unsure whether they are a sealed system or not.
Cheers Gerard

J etc,
[Where do people find their names : honestly. I mean I know all variations of 'fred' are used, but this one? I dunno]. So..
J etc, your regulator is totally sealed , to the point that neither the weather nor a Techie with a cold chisel can harm it.
But a short circuit can fry it just too quick. (Beware a short circuit with a fully embedded epoxy unit. Replace, not repair: $130, maybe?)
Joondalupgerry, we chose the Morning star controller because it sits in the back of the ute, is weather tight, and has impeccable performance. I can't comment on the rest of your system. : you judge it. Maybe the tow bar mounting needs a re-think, but that's your call.
(Oh and before the critics hit me, we're away for a week or so : hold your fire or you're shooting at shadows; may we all enjoy a tragedy-free break, eh. Jeff. h.

Thanks...our controller is mounted on the back of the panel...so I was worried about its weatherproofness.
Actually I'm a kiwi on an extended working holiday, presently based in
Perth etc.
I used that nickname to avoid the inevitable sheep jokes....lol.

It seems to be an obvious nickname choice for someone called Gerry who lives in
Joondalup (
Perth suburb) :-)
Some names one really does wonder how they were contrived though.
