I also didn't realise that this post was a post to members only. The post should be clearly stated in the subject line so non-members don't accidentally open up the post by mistake. I don't know what being a member has to do with posting on a forum. No with standing the fact that the product is probably illegal in all states.

Yeh I guess the people who do off road with off road vehicles don't need them ,
You can't do this and you can't do that Damn it , I would have thought people running unregistered off roaders up creeks could used things like that when they put thos extra big tyres on , oh wrong again ,

As previously posted they are not really legal anywhere in OZ & are not allowed in CCDA comps. That doesn't mean people dont want or use them.
I too sell wheel spacers, that arepurchased mainly as a simple method of spacing the bigger spare tyre commonly mounted on the rear doors of many 4wds.

Although the item may be ilegal to fit and use on the 'roads' that doesn't mean that someone can't promulgate their existence in the market place. Mind you, in the interest of road safety (to all) it would be prudent to also advise that they are illegal for on-road use. Seems that there are lots of youngsters (and sometimes not so young) out there who are either indifferent to, or just plain arrogant when it comes to compliance with with ANY rules or regulations - after all the trauma of road related deaths and injuries to a loved one should not have to be endured by any family. How about a campaign promoting COMMON SENSE?

22 inch chrome wheels are nearly always illegal as well !!!

But that doesn't stop people using them !!

If you want to use spacers....well use them, but don't whinge if you get caught out !!!

Can't see anything wrong in informing people of their existance.......

By the way, some makers ( Porsche ) use them as standard factory fit.

Its only illegal if you get caught :)

Now wait for the uproar LOL

OK all you Do gooders who are raving and ranting about ADRs and what's legal and what's not ,I think most of us know the common sense of life, remember the next time your a pedestrian and come to a DON'T WALK red sign , have the patience to stand there for 45 seconds as the law says you should and not hit the button as you walk past it and through the red light. Yeh I know your all guilty , and NO i don't walk a red light , not the way we were taught in the 40s and 50s, so knock the BS and go find something useful to add to the forum

Doug T...

There is no probs with putting posts on a forum.. that is what forums are designed for in the first place...

This particular product does have its limitations with legalities, insurance and they are prone to shearing wheel studs and working loose etc so I would advise anyone considering them to steer clear of them.. But if people like you don't post things that you find others may not be aware that there are options available...

lol ... Don't worry about it mate.. we have all had our share of lectures from keyboard experts in our time... I have to admit that it does get under my skin from time to time and I have to sit for a minute and think.. do I retaliate or let it go? The majority of forumites don't mind what you post, it gives us something to read at the best of times!

You probably sheared the studs by dragging too big a load by the look of your sig..

Cheers

Hey Doug

I don't always agree with your post's, But having said that, I and I'm sure many others Appreciate your efforts, finding and posting relevant links to peoples post's and posting links to novel ideas such as the one above.

I actually know a few people that could use these thing, they wouldn't have to be legal either as these people live on cattle stations etc...

Keep up the good work Steve.

Doug,
Here's some available locally

Site Link

I've spoken to plenty of people using them (only off road of course ;-)

What about everyone here with more than acouple of inch's lift-probably not allowed by insurance, oversize tyres-same again.

I know my car with 35's, 6inch lift, and 2inch spacers was a little outside the law. Thing is I'd guess close to half the people on here have mods which would technically make their cars unroadworthy, illegal, uninsured ie kill someone with it in an accident and you might find yourself in the big house!!

What to do? Forget about it (ignorance is bliss), don't mod at all, or try and stay within the rules. I've sold my 35's, extended shackles, reset springs lower, and my spacers are in the trader (shameful plug). I only did this though because the thing had become a little annoying to drive on long trips, and the engineer would never have approved a GCM upgrade I needed in that form-otherwise I'd never have changed it.

Anyway, point is I think some you fellas need to settle down a bit :-) Out of all the illegal mods of done to my car, wheel spacers are the only one that improved both off road AND on road abilitiy......

Cheers
Matt

Matt
Thanks for the link, I put it in my favorites.

You know the silly thing about it Matt is all the accidents are happening to totally legal vehicles, It's the driver/operator not the 2" lift kit or the much discussed wheel spacer.........Hmmm or the bloke that has 4 little spot welds on the axle to stop the axle studs from shearing. ...cough ....cough . No I don't know him ...lol
But the thing is the do gooders in all fields love to play on Numbers and bloody statistics, Take the campaign in Qld "Every K Over is a Killer" so young drivers get the message at 100kph they won't get killed, Here in WA the newest one is at 5kph over the speed limit your twice as likely to have an accident ,well on that basis I should have dead 1000s of times over in the last 46 years, here's another numbers game, at 70kph in a 60 zone your 10 over 10kph = 5.4mph now back a few years ago 5.4 would not have been an issue doing 40mph in a 35 zone.
Look at all the Mods the blokes do on the street Machines, most of those Mods make the safer, more stable on the road, yes I know some go overboard and the line has to be drawn .I could go on and on but you know the story.
