More power, goals of better on- and off-road capabilities and increased interior room highlight the 2008 Lexus LX 570 premiering in New York. Power, from the 5.7-liter, 381-hp V8 developed for parent company Toyota’s full-size Tundra, jumps 113 hp over the outgoing LX 470.

Have a look at the Lexus US website - heaps of pictures of it there.

Guess essentially this will be our 200 series that will be toned down. No diesel option on US spec vehicles.

Not sure about the looks but I love the "Blind Corner"Camera built in which eliminiates the traditional blind spot. The appearance could be a little teaser for the new cruiser due soon.?

Be sure to check out the 10 exterior photos and 7 interior photos on the website. I have read this Lexus will be available here with the 5.7L petrol V8 AND V8 diesel (older Lexus only had the V8 petrol) the 3rd row seats look much more comfortable than the Land Rover Discovery 3's third row (which are currently the best on the market). About time a car sound system had it's own hard drive standard!

For some reason, car companies in Australia really avoid selling the same engine, in cars of different sizes to avoid hurting sales of the bigger car. But everyone else in the world (especially Europe) gets to experience whatever engine they make that fits in their car, they can have - or if they want to save some dollars they can order it with the most gutless engine that can still move the thing. But I can see them bringing the GX470 out here when the LX570 is available. It will be interesting to see if Lexus do diesel-electric hybrids for these for their first time. You can pretty much guarantee that the LX570 will be available in a diesel though. But what will they call it? LX450? (same as the original Lexus Landcruiser) LX45, LX45D - then LX45DH for the diesel-elec hybrid?
