Can anyone tell me what typical fuel consumption you would expect from a 1986 FJ60 LandCruiser with the 5-speed box and the 4 litre 3F petrol engine? I have nothing to compare against.

Well, a mate with the early 4.2ltr petrol motor in 40 series says recently around town he has been averaging around 45ltrs/100km, which sounds like an awful lot to me. With the 3F I think, driven carefully, and
well tuned you could hop to acheive between 20-25ltrs/100km around town, maybe a little more, and on the highway probably high teens. It's a good thing fuel prices are coming down, though, because they were getting rediculous, mid 90's in Qld, even with our 8c per ltr subsidy! But now, you can pick up ULP for 77c, and my truck is loving it!!!

Well, my old 2F returned between 4 and 6kml and that with a 4 speed. Depends how you drive it. You will probably average about 5kml highway driving and 4kml offroading. My old Nissan gives me 5kml. The good thing is I only paid $2500 for it. So the petrol usage can be divided into the money I saved on buying a newbie...say $45,000 !!Cheers, Willem

I used to get about 17 mpg on trips and 14mpg around town. A lot of these have LPG conversions now and get about 12 mpg on gas. Very solid motor - might require the odd head job.

I used to get about 17mpg - 20mpg in my
old truck then changed to to Turbo Diesel a bit later and got around 25mpg. A lot depended on the weight of the right foot. Don't know how solid the motror is but the odd head job should be part of the regular servicing system.Alpaca
