I went past
Beagle Bay and back about three weeks ago in my work GU Nissan coil cab (with buggered shockers). It was quite good going up but it rained heavily before I could return. I slogged along in a river of mud and water for nearly 50 km in 2 gear 4wd with plenty of right foot and a lot of brown water everywhere. Some of the hardest driving I have ever done.
It dries out pretty quick, but you can expect long sections to be pretty badly chopped up and the tourist season has only just started. Don't have your tyres too hard as you will strike plenty of soft stuff. Stay in 4wd (except for the beaut bit near
Beagle Bay) as the conditions change very quickly and passing vehicles will often force your LHS wheels up into deep sandy shoulders.
The short cut from near
Beagle Bay down to the highway half way to
Derby is probably still in bad shape. I'll
check it out in a couple of weeks.

George,
We have just rung the shire and it is open however they have forgotten to send our conditions update fax for a while. Wouldn't it be good if they could keep us updated. We usually get 5 faxes a week from them and have not seen any for a few days tell us of the status. We are working on it.Regards
