Two nights ago a taxi driver in Hastings on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria risked his life to pull an unconscious driver from a burning car. Whilst he was doing this some "person" stole his night's takings from his unattended cab:

The sum in question is $300. I shall be putting a $10 note into an envelope this morning and posting it to:

Adrian Davies (Personal)
C/O Peninsula Radio Cabs Co-Op Ltd
116 High St
Hastings
3915

I would like to ask for 29 other people to do the same.

According to Peninsula Radio Cabs, they have a large envelope in their office containing a substabtial amount of money dropped in by the public for Adrian. The Westernport Hotel has also organised a fund raiser to also compensate him. By all accoounts he has thankfully been financially compensated. Gee it's really great to hear of instances when the community responds so quickly to such a despicable act.

Great idea, I'm in.

Mike, make sure that your letter is registered; that's the only legal way to sent a bank note in the mail. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I hadn't warned you about such a crucial regulation you may well have been about to break ;-))))

Thank God for your warning Bware! I was just about to set off to the post box with an envelope with a folded sheet of A4 inside of which is a $10 note. However now that you have furnished me with this valuable knowledge I have considered the potential error of my ways, at some length, and have decided... to say... the hell with it! And post it anyway :)

DIO - that's good to hear, despite the few bad ones most people are, basically, good in my experience. I shall send the money anyway - $10 is not a large sum to me and if Adrian comes out on-top then that's a good thing too. Maybe he can take a holiday or donate to a charity of his choice - whatever... he deserves some good luck.

Mike,

Have you heard if there's any way we can send something of benefit to the guy that robbed him?

I ask because I have to go to Mandurah tommorrow for 50 rounds of 22 Hornet ammunition. It would only cost an extra dollar to make it 51,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This was on the radio today. The $300 has been well and truly recovered by donations, with the extra (and quite substantial extra apparently) to be donated to the SES and another volunteer rescue service that I cannot remember. So for everyone that does donate, it seems any extra is being directed to a good cause.
